VST3 for Resolve

Hi,
We record most of our audio with Dual Mid Side setup so 3 microphones that can create 5.1 surround.
So far the only plugin that I have found that can deal with this well is created by Schoeps:
https://schoeps.de/en/products/accessories/accessories-surround-3d/accessories-double-ms/double-ms-plugin-2018.htmlResolve uses VST2 only currently so if VST3 was supported this would open up quite many more plugins like this one.
I would of course also be happy if this functionality was built into Resolve directly to deal with Dual Mid Side recordings.
Best,
Andreas

+1 as many plugin vendors are beginning to move all of their offerings to VST3 and discontinuing VST2.
Some benefits include lower CPU requirements, full surround support, as well as sample-accurate automation, resizable GUI windows and full 64 bit support.
Would definitely like to see VST3 in Fairlight.

Has anyone used Melodyne for pitch correction inside DR? Their plugin is VST3, and I can’t get DR to recognize it.

VST3 is really a must nowadays. Also I don't see any reason to not support it. Any other serious software in the post production market does…

VST3 and sidechaining for 3rd party plugins....! I just had to install all I need from my collection as vst2 .dlls (which i normally skip during installation.)
I am totally blown away what I Can do audiowise in fairlight...if there will be sidechaining and vst3 I will delete studio one, audition and live from my workstation

Yes please!
I was honestly really surprised to find that the reason some of my plugins weren't recognized is that Resolve only handles VST2. Seems strange for a modern program.

It would be amazing if Resolve is compatible with VST3 plugins.

Definitely yes, please add this in future updates. Some good plugins don't run stable in Resolve like TDR NOVA EQ, and perhaps VST3 improves stability, too.

Yeah, cant really be taken serious as a DAW in this marketspace without VST3 - this has to happen, sooner rather than later

So is this fixed in 17 ? Could someone from Blackmagic please chime in for a roadmap ? This is getting embarrasing

Not a sign of it I'm afraid.
17 has some great new features and fixes, so I don't want to be too despondent about omissions like this, but between this and the ProRes Raw thing, it risks making Resolve an outlier when it comes to the nuts and bolts stuff.

Thanx Andrew - exactly - we dont live in a bubble where all we use is BM cameras and resolve. If BM thinks that - there going down a extremely dangerous road. Interoperability and the ability to work with industry standards is always more important than features. It would be insane to consolidate on Resolve when the rest of the world is rapidly adopting ProRes Raw.

VST 3.0 came out in 2008.
Why is it not used by Fairlight?
+1 to get Fairlight up to date.

I'd also like to +1 this suggestion. Better working and performing plugins would be amazing for Fairlight. I'm looking forward to this — one day.

- just bought a valuable plugin for Reaper and Resolve just to find out it's not working in Resolve since it is only available as VST3!

I'm devoted to Fabfilter Pro-Q3 and izotope RX6 reverb removal, which are impossible to resize on Resolve and not fully efficient on VST2.
VST3 is a must.

I use for VST 3 a Plugin named Unify from PluginGuru that integrate all VST Plugins INSIDE DaVinci Resolve. But by the fact the Missing basics of a DAW Like Midisupport and so on IS a Shame. Workflow is right that way that people use still for anything with Audio an external DAW. Things like Midilearn functionality are very painfull missed. AS Hobby User i did spend several weeks Just to Mix my Classic Film music correct and Map them with third Party Software..
This way film music Mix IS a realy pain.

Just checking. Does VST3 work in Resolve 17 now? I could not see it in the features and cannot test the beta myself.
Would solve many problems if it did!
Cheers,
Andreas

So a feature request from us would be to either to:
1) Implement VST 3 or
2) Implement an implementation in Fairlight that can record Dual Mid Side similar to this free plugin by Schoeps
https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2018/11/16/friday-free-plug-in-double-ms-from-schoeps
We record most of our audio now in Dual Mid Side so it is frustraging to have to process all the audio in another software instead of using Fairlight.
Otherwise working with Audio is getting nicer and nicer in Resolve.
Cheers,
Andreas

+1 here too.
From a purely TV and Film audio post environment it is important for both the ambisonics/M + S already mentioned plus EBU's EAR ADM renderer, an opensource alternative to Dolby Atmos being adopted by the EBU in Europe.

Don't overlook the MPEG-H authoring in Studio.

Is that the same then? The EAR suite was specifically designed with Reaper and is a set of VST3 plugins.

Resolve's MPEG-H authoring toolset is a native implementation of Fraunhofer's MPEG-H Authoring Suite.
The MPEG-H ADM Profile is a constrained implementation of the ITU standards and provides interoperability with the ITU/EBU EAR Renderer.

Just gently bumping this. In revisiting the request it would be incredibly useful to be able to use the DearVR Monitor VST3 plugin for immersive sound, on the go and headphone mixing, particularly for sound design and fx. The new features document for 17 only mentions downmixing monitoring to existing physical monitor setups and the 16 manual B-Chain has not mention of virtual monitoring. I am currently trailing it in Reaper and Avid Media Composer (up to 7.1) and whilst it's no panacea it is very clever. Is there an existing alternative, Reynaud?

Is there an existing alternative?
Assuming you are on Windows, as DearVR provides an AU version on macOS.
Alternatively,
Flux Ircam HEar and
NoiseMakers Binauraliser or
Binauraliser Studio.

Thanks, I looked hard but never came across these. Ircam HEar v3 seems only to go up to 7.1.2 and Binaurlizer Studio makes no mention of Dolby Atmos - that one looks the most interesting - do you know if it will work with the Dolby Atmos bus?

The plugin supports several Atmos configurations including 5.1.2 and 7.1.4.

Binaurliser Studio is fine on 5.1.2, 5.1.4, and 7.1.2, and 7.1.4 Atmos Busses.

Hopefully we will get VST3 not too far off. Causing some problems with our recordings atm since Dual Mid side is not possible to work with in Resolve by default. I guess we have to process all audio first in say Nuendo, but I would rather not.
Cheers,
Andreas

this is a form of agony. It took me ages to work out why my favourites didn't appear...
I literally don't install VST2 version now because the format is basically legacy...
