Create Reference Copies ("You change, I change!")

PostWed May 20, 2020 2:14 pm

Please tell me if this feature exists already and I just haven't seen it, because I cannot believe that it doesn't exist. And I thought I saw something similar in Resolve once (was it with subtitles?)

I've been thinking about this before, and someone else mentioned the need for a similar feature:

It's about creating "reference copies" of a clip. Like instanced nodes in Fusion .
They are not separate clips, but are all linked in their attributes.
If one attribute of a reference copy clip changes, all other reference copies change as well.
You've got 20 clips of a lower third on your timleine and you want to change the background color of all of them? Select one, change it, all others update.

Currently, in Resolve when you have multiple instances of a Fusion comp, you cannot update them all at once in your timeline. Even changing the original comp, doesn't change the timeline instances.

Sony/Magix Vegas shows you an example of how to do it:
