Auto Color Clips As They Are Created

PostSat Aug 15, 2020 5:52 pm

It would be nice to have this feature for Davinci Resolve to Auto Color the clips as and when they are created. And if the colored clip is split again the latter clip is reapplied a different color.

Clips aren't so much created as they are imported. And both Resolve Color Management and ACES offer a way to 'auto color' those clips.

So maybe I'm misunderstanding. Can you elaborate?

Lets suppose i started with a long clip and davinci auto assigns a color to it.
i divide it into 3 short clips and then all three clips get a different color. something like that.

You want the three clips to get a different look, or you're saying they do now and you want that corrected?

Ohhhh, you're talking about Clip Color. My misunderstanding. I thought you were talking about coloring a clip on the Color page.

I would vote no on this.

Clip colours can be assigned keyboard shortcuts in Keyboard Customisation.
I would also vote no to an automated clip colour option.

Usually clip colors actually mean something so automatic color changes to those would be really dumb IMO.

Maybe there should be an option to switch it on or off....

Have you thought about how many colours you would need on a big project with lots of edits?

Having keyboard shortcuts for a few colors is not a bad idea. We all have 3-4 fav colors.
