Skip Time / Time-mute

An option to skip 'time disabled' clips (or alternatively in-out points).

This way you could keep shots or sequences in the time line for reference.
Ideal if you need to 'kill darlings' or can't choose between shots, etc..

So in a way you are 'time muting' moments in the timeline.

(The timeline would have to be blank at those points. One could enable 'collapse time mutes'...)

Clips that you "time disable" will be skipped when playing. So it just jumps to the next clip.

Another way I could explain is: Deleting clips from the timeline, but keep them visible in the timeline (grayed out obviously).

This prevents the need do cut away shots for previewing and keeps the original edit intact. And makes it easy to add them back at any time, probably even more beneficial.

Removing parts you love for the benefit of the story.

This would actually be a very good feature and is commonly found on many DAWS. the ability for the timeline to skip past a certain "muted clip" would be insanely helpful. If you have a sequence that you want to do edits on, but dont want to commit just yet, just have the playhead skip past the muted clips. if youre ready to commit theyre already marked for removal.

Sounds like a terrific feature to me. Kind of like an alternate take in the take selector - but one of zero length. Though this would be more flexible if it were bounded by IN and OUT rather than limited to a particular clip.

It might be more “in the paradigm” if its interface were part of the take selector - but it would be far less discoverable.
