Slip Edit Live Preview

When performing a Slip Edit, Resolve currently shows you how you're changing your In/Out points via two previews in the top left / right of your screen. It also shows you what your previous and next clips are in your timeline in the lower left / right. I think we should at least beast be able to decide if we want to show those two lower left / right previews. I'd rather see larger previews of what my new In/Out points are as I change them, and not see the previous and next clips preview. They just take up room, and don't seem valuable to me. This is especially true for people editing on smaller screens.

there was a way in previous version of resolve to [shift - Q] to alter this.... Is this not the case anymore?

I would vote no on this.

Hold Shift after selecting but before doing the slip for a two window, Top and Tail view of the clip

That is a temporary toggle between 4-up and 1-up displays, depending on what the current selection for 'Enable Preview During Editing' in the View menu is. The 1 up display shows the current frame under the playhead. It's not a 2-up display as the OP wants.

Yeah, the 2-up displays is what I'm hoping for...I mean, what are you doing when you perform a slip edit? You're changing the in and Out points of 1 clip. So, all you really need to see is how you're affecting the In and out points. One preview for the in, one preview for the out.

Why? .... Options are an editors friend and it wouldn't hurt you. You don't have to use the option.

I would suggest to BMD to consider making it an optional toggle, in the record window ••• menu.
Slip window - 4Up / 2Up / Playhead
Hitting Shift each time can be tedious for a workflow solution. Especially if it’s something you don’t desire every time AND it makes viewing the image (slipping) more simple/digestible.
For now it’s workable but not preferable. For me.

And please make it be able to be “remembered”within a saved project preset or live/travel within a keyboard layout.

That's fine for the 4-up and 2-up ideas (that's what 'Enable Preview During Editing' is for), but if you want the 1-up playhead display like I do most of the time, I wouldn't want to get rid of the Shift functionality i.e. the Preview Enabled can be either 2-up or 4-up, and then the Preview Disabled is always 1-up, and Shift can toggle between enabled/disabled without having to use a menu or allocate a keyboard shortcut.

Fair enough point as it is not for everyone but having to toggle that on an off is also not preferable.
Perhaps a way to choose what is the primary preference vs. the secondary option?
The second being triggered by Shift.
An ••• menu pulldown section with options that one choice can be checked.
1Up/2Up
1Up/4Up
2Up/1Up
2Up/4Up
4Up/1Up
4Up/2Up
Everyone gets to choose their default and then what shift will do when slipping.
Thousands of shift clicks saved globally on default and everyone is happy?
+1?
Now if we could only get them to consider implementing it.

I just tried the Shift + Slip and it helps tremendously, thank you!

unfortunately [shift+action] does not work if you want to use the [ < - > ] keystrokes: it increment by 5 (in my case) but it does not do the single up.
the manual is also completely wrong at the moment.

I know that, my comment was that if you shift drag trima clip you override the 4up, but if you try to use the arrows instead of mouse drag, you cannot override the 4up because shift will be bind to a different function (step)...

Just piling on my hatred of 4-up. It may be useful for editorial, but for conforming, it’s huge pain. I’d like for there to be a global option to toggle the default behavior of this so that it always is disabled.

Wasn’t sure if it would override the slip function amount. Sent from mobile phone.

I have to say, the 2-up display is better for the way I work. I don't mind them offering an option to do any (or none) of these.
