Paste on top

PostThu May 13, 2021 6:15 pm

I would love a new keybind that is a combination of 'paste' (ctrl+v) and 'place on top' (F12).

It happens very often that I want to cut a clip from somewhere in the timeline, and paste it on a higher track somewhere else.

This can be achieved (sort of) with track targeting, but it's kind of a pain.

What do you guys think, would you use 'Paste on top?'

I find the current capabilities sufficient.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

+1

It makes perfect sense to have a mapping for this, especially since there's an edit mode for Place on Top.

Although I still champion for cursor-context sensitive pasting/editing, as discussed in this thread, which would serve the same purpose, and would actually be more fast and precise, since you could not only paste things above the current clip, but also target the specific track you want to paste it into.

I hadn't thought of that, but I like it even better than paste on top. +1 for curser-context aware pasting!
