Dual Screen - Clips Thumnails & Lightbox Simultaneously

PostThu May 20, 2021 1:40 pm

Would be great to see something where we could have the 'Clips' thumbnails on the Primary display, but also see the lightbox available on the secondary display. Currently it's one or the other, and I ideally would like to be able to use both.

I think the answer is, the Thumbnail Timeline IS the Lightbox, just represented horizontally. The Lightbox is the same thing, only spread out to the full screen (or half-screen, if you use it on the other display with Gallery).

I do keep the Lightbox all the time and use it frequently on the other display, but I don't need to see the thumbnail timeline. I got used to just the little squiggles on the regular symbolic timeline (on a 2-Display system).

If you're using dual-screen layout, you're probably missing the "Lightroom" button at the top right-hand side of the primary screen - that was, at least the situation that I was in.
Ctrl-Shift-F brought up the lightbox on my secondary screen, albeit in a single line of clips that I could scroll along. There was nothing that I could do to increase the viewing area.

Then, I tried switching to single-screen and, hey presto!, the Lightbox button appeared at the top right and I got a multi-line Lightbox.

Switching back to dual-screen, made the Lightbox button disappear. I could still access it via Ctrl-Shift-F - and I retained the multi-line Lightbox.

So, as a workaround, try switching to single-screen and open the Lightbox from the button, top right.

Understand the limitations, but would be a great feature to be able to have both up simultaneously. I find the 'line' lightbox to be really handy when switching between A & C mode and copying grades, but then really like the full screen lightbox if I have to look back further to find a particular shot etc.

The Lightbox thumbnails used to be on my preview screen (even in dual screen mode - 3 monitors, primary, secondary and preview via Decklink) - now all I get is a small stripe above the gallery.
What am I missing?
