Edit Index on the Color Page

PostWed Jul 14, 2021 12:50 pm

It would be great to have the Edit Index available on the Color Page. I use it on the Edit Page to go through frame markers for reviewing notes.

The Marker Overlays don't quite do it for me and having to click the 3 dots then go to Markers then select a Marker I want to jump to is more steps than just seeing that marker in the Edit Index and clicking it.

I usually jump from marker to marker with [Shift] + [Up / Down]. that works quite fast.

not when you have 400 of them and you only need to see the yellow ones.....

How about adding the Markers to the Clips filtering on the Colour Page? It might keep the interface from becoming too cluttered.

Definite +1

I’d also like to have the Markers List available on the Color page as well, as requested in this thread:

Does not work if the marker is on the timeline and not a shot itself….

Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."

I assigned shortcuts to "view markers All / Blue / Red etc" for my most used colors. Therefore filter the markers in the timeline and then jump with [Shift] + [Up / Down].

A marker index window can be created with scripting, but to navigate to the marker we need a function that navigates to a specific timecode. If you want it, let BMD know in this thread: Scripting: SetCurrentTimecode() and SelectedTimelineItems()

we are not setup to use scripting at work... giving the amount of users, we need simple solutions....

It would just be a file that you drag and drop on the Console window the first time you use it, then it installs and configures itself and is available in the Scripting menu.

I suppose a bigger issue for your type of facility is the security implications. As far as I can tell scripts run as the current user, meaning you would have to trust that the script is safe and doesn't delete/steal your files. Basically it's a non-starter. ;)

I'm sure they install third-party plugins, and trust them implicitly.

So: just charge money for it, then they'll trust it :)

The Edit Index provides more than just the use case which I mentioned. So no I wouldn't want a script, I want the actual Edit Index.

Hahaha... I think we need to start creating a tip jar system, where adding a "+1" is pledging $1 to the devs annual party fund! In which case you might want to reconsider that '+10 million'. :)
