Spectrum Analyzer built into EQ graph

PostWed Aug 25, 2021 2:16 pm

My request is to display a spectrum analyzer into the EQ graphs (both on Fairlight EQ and Inspector on Edit/Fairlight page) to visually work with the EQs.

This will help to:

- Detect static frequencies
- detect the Q area to be cut on the EQ
- Measure graphically the loudness.
- Make the life easier to sound editors, reading the wave spectrum on the same way a colorist reads the scopes

This Spectrum Analyzer should work when the EQ is bypassed to allow measuring A/B test with EQ on and off.
Or Display both Previous Post graphs on two colors.

I've attached a snapshot of Fabfilter Q-3 plugin, which effectively shows the spectrum on the EQ area.

here is a graph of two spectrum analyser overimposed, useful as Pre-Post spectrums

Spectrum Analyzer on EQ graph

PostWed Aug 25, 2021 2:31 pm

+1

You know there’s a stand-alone one, right? I’m sure you do, but just in case somebody runs across this thread and doesn’t, let’s just make that clear. There is a spectrum analyzer in Resolve, it’s just not built into the EQ.

But yes, I agree. It would be more convenient to have one built in.

Also another suggestion is:
Set the Q factor moving any EQ Band with the mouse + CMD (CTRL on Windows)

Spectrum Analyzer is layered over the EQ graph on the Allen & Heat dlive Mixer.

Also Nova plugin features Spectrum EQ.

No need to load a Spectrum Analyzer plugin on each channel we want to EQ.

Other examples, Voxengo gliss EQ and Waves F6,

Why a pro Audio editor like Fairlight doesnt implements spectrum on its EQ graph?
When one works with DVR native channel EQs (both Fairlight and Inspector's EQ tab), they still looks like an alpha version.
