In order to avoid going switching between Pre/Clip/Post/TL, Why not to make appear all Pre/Clip/Post/Timeline nodes at once by splitting the Nodes Panel? (as an option)

If somebody want to focus on clip nodes only, then it can turn "Node Panel Splitting" off using a keyboard shortcut on Node Panel menu.

This should be a smart spitting, so if there are no nodes on Pre (or Post or TL), that split will not appear on the Nodes Panel. Also smart size to adjust the area to the amount of nodes.

I think is a killer idea, very handy, timesaver, specially with a keyboard shortcut to toggle between both modes.

Specially because Pre/Clip/Post/TL switch have not keyboard shortcut support, nor panel support, and are dependent of the mouse when we have our hands on MiniPanel.

When you start to have several dozen nodes, there's not going to be enough room to show all that in the Node window. I typically have somewhere between 25 and 30 nodes up as it is, and if I also had to see Pre/Post/Timeline at the same time, I'd get more confused than I already am. (And there are people who do 50-60 for some projects.)

I would suggest altering your approach and taking whatever you're doing in Pre/Post and adding it to a Fixed Node Tree, which would be up all the time. Bypass those nodes when you don't use them, turn them on when you do use them, and do a Color -> Ripple Node Changes to Selected Clips, and that will let you change many clips on the fly.

If I wind up using a Post-Clip Grade for style or a look, I can take a peek in there with one button push on the panel. It's not critical that I look at it all the time.

I mostly edit easy color corrections for web delivery that don't exceed of 3-4 nodes at his max, however I'll test your sugested workflow.

I'm working on a Fixed Node Tree tutorial, and will post some info once it's finally done. MixingLight.com has done some pieces on different approaches in past insights.

You can make the node trees as simple or as complex as you need for them to be, and be aware that just because you have 10-15-20 nodes, you can keep most of them turned off most of the time. A lot of this stuff looks complicated, but it actually isn't once you take a step back and realize, "ah, I'm actually doing most of the work in just 3 or 4 nodes." The rest is just icing on the cake.

Marc is correct about fixed node trees. They can look intimidating at first but do greatly simplify things.

And yes, for many people with 10+ nodes in their trees, half are not active. Things like say, three nodes, each with a different power window shape.

And a noise removal node, that like the power window nodes is inactive until you activate it.

Just makes adding masking/qualifiers and things like that faster, simpler, less error prone.

I can see it wouldn't be suitable for everyone but certainly to be able to see 'pre' + 'clip' + 'post' as a 3 segment mode tree could be *very* useful.

Of course this can be an option on Node panel menu, to switch between both views with a keyboard shortcut.

Using a keyboard shortcut to toggle both views would be more handy than using the mouse on the tiny dots to switch between pre/clip/post/TL
