Notepad on the Color Page

PostThu Dec 30, 2021 1:57 am

Lately I've been having some trouble keeping track of notes because I use sticky notes. I'd love if there could be a feature where, directly in the color page's node graph, you can have the option to open a notepad for that specific shot. Take notes, and then toggle it off again. Kind of like how you can hide the clips and the timeline in the color page.

That way when I'm meeting with a client and they give feedback, I can customize each shot by saying exactly what needs to be done to it. Whereas now, I have to write in order on a sticky notes and try to remember which note goes to which shot.

locators can be your friend
can be added by a kb shortcut (or mapped to StreamDeck) while in the color page
my notes / DP's notes / producer's notes all get diffrent color locators
notes from FrameIO get another color
easy to type in a note when you add a locator

The notes option in fusion node graph would be excellent inspiration for this.

Don't know what a locator is.

Is it the same as a marker?

What is that? Is it a third party plugin?

I don't really like the markers since they take up too much of the screen. I'd prefer that notepad toggle.

You can map a shortcut to View > Show Markers > All (and/or to specific marker colours) then use that shortcut to toggle the display as needed. Appreciate its not the specific functionality you've envisioned, but using the existing application wide mechanism for adding notes/remarks to clip instances should be very workable. And speaking of existing mechanisms, as Trevor also noted, Fusion's 'Sticky Note' and 'Underlay' node window tools could lend themselves very well to Color Page node view organisation etc... theres already 3 year old feature request for adding the Sticky Note tool tho, so don't hold your breath: Fusion sticky notes and feature request
Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."
