Seperate Default Transition Duration for Audio & Video

PostWed Jan 05, 2022 5:59 pm

I would like to have a seperate setting for default video transition duration, and default audio transition duration.

For my work, it would have a lot of usefulness. I often set audio-only transitions (shift+T), and video only transitions (alt+T). Typically I want default video durations to be longer than audio, but I can't set them seperately.

I've used nother editing program that had them seperate, and it liked it a lot.

Yep, I had this same exact request and it didn’t gain any traction. Someone just said “real editors don’t use crossfades, they use cuts”. Very helpful…My standard video transition is usually 10-12 frames and audio 1-2 frames. I have this setup in premiere and it’s very handy.

Gotcha. Didn't mean to make a duplicate post, I did a few searches first, but didn't find anything similar. I'd like to watch their blockbuster film where all the audio, music and roomtone never crossfades and 'just cuts' .

Haha no worries! I think a duplicate post is needed! And yeah, their comment was pretty arrogant, and…just stupid if you ask me.

I'm pretty sure I said "Dissolves are for the weak". Lol. Probably fair to say that humour can get a bit lost on forums tho. Fwiw, I agree that the ability to define separate default transition lengths for Audio and Video would be useful.
Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."

I mean, yeah humor can get lost very easily. There are plenty of people out there that would say “crossfades are for the weak”, with a completely straight face. Haha.
