Ext matte, have a “invert matte” tick in node

PostThu Jan 13, 2022 7:49 pm

Let’s say that you have few EXR with embedded mattes (but it is not relevant) and i have those shot sin a timeline.

I connect the matte to a node and do a correction.
Go to the next shot, there is the matte attached to teh same node and i want the same correction. Copy/paste the node from previous shot and I’m done.

Except, the vfx artist is not coherent and sometimes teh white represent teh background and sometimes the foreground of the comp.

So i have to tick the inversion in teh node, but now the copy and paste become impossible in a live session.

Or ai need to attach a dummy node after teh matte with the sole purpose of flip the state when needed.

Proposal: in the [ext. matte] node, where the other ticks are (loop, freeze and so on), add a tick for [invert matte], so once we found the right way white/black, all the color noe have the same matte discrimination.
