Having the ability to copy/paste FX on audio tracks

PostFri Apr 15, 2022 1:07 am

I would like to be able to copy all the audio effects from an audio track to another on the edit page.

In the Fairlight page you can Alt + drag to copy a plugin effect from one track to another keeping its settings. Unfortunately the same does not work with the separate EQ and Dynamics boxes.

I believe this is an audio editor only function at this point

Thanks for the tip. I'll use that when I need to duplicate effects like echo on a second audio track.
I guess it should work with EQ too.

My feature request is more for copying track effects between timelines. It would copy everything.

When timelines can't have their framerate changed after the fact (when timelines are not created directly in the media pool, correct?), it's a pain to recreate the whole audio tracks setup (effects, names of the tracks, etc.) for new timelines with a different framerate.

Sometimes I have timelines with relatively complex audio effects on 5-7 audio tracks, with intros containing transitions/fusion comps, and when I need to re-use it in another timeline with a different framerate and still be able to tweak the settings if needed. Recreating it all is painful.

I think to be able to change settings of any timelines should be added to the list too.

Fairlight menu > Presets Library

The Fairlight Configuration Preset contains all Timeline preferences (e.g. Video and Audio Tracks, Track heights, colour, naming, inserts and Fairlight DSP, and routing for Tracks, Busses, and VCAs).

Configuration Presets are stored with the system and are accessible across Databases, Projects, and Timelines.

Configuration Presets may be recalled either in an existing Timeline via the Presets Library or within the "Create New Timeline" window by enabling the "Use Fairlight Preset" option.

The Fairlight Preset Library provides additional preset categories to save and recall specific blocks of preferences including Equaliser, Dynamics, Plugins, Global Track, Global Bus, and Configuration presets.

Thanks!

I'm gonna try it just for one of my project, then delete the presets because the track setup are only used for this instance. I need 4 new timelines with 4 different framerate (I'll render them all so I don't have to think about it in the future).

I checked the manual about the presets library, I'm glad I posted here because reading it, I wouldn't be able to find what I was looking for.

(of course it doesn't negate my feature request :D because it's pretty cumbersome in comparison of a copy/past, and it doesn't clutter the database either. IF we could change the framerate of each timeline after the fact, it would be WAY easier IMO)

EDIT:
It worked well.
I already see something that would be an amelioration, the ability to have folders in the presets window, and be able to change the name of each preset after the fact too, but that's another subject
