Scopes tab in the Edit page

PostTue Apr 04, 2023 12:26 pm

I often check my colors while i'm editing, and for now the Scopes window is a floating one, which means it gets in the way of other stuff and you have to use a key combination to bring it back if you close it.

It would make more sense if there was a section for it next to the Media Pool tab on the left, this means that you can turn it on or off with a simple mouse click.

Not a fan of this idea.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

It's simply a button. it doesn't stand in anybody's way. And it also gets it's integrated space.

I'm aware that we all want/like different things but this doesn't actually change how Resolve looks.

My suggestion would be to buy a second display, then detach the Scopes and move them over to that monitor and fill the screen with them. I worked that way for years and years until we finally started using 3rd-party external scopes -- first Scopebox, then Omniscope.

For those on single displays this is an entirely reasonable request. It can go in the same place as the effects.

You could try this. Make the Media Pool/Effects column full height and widened slightly. The Scopes window is sized to its smallest and then placed at the bottom.

Blackmagic should look into a UI overhaul collaboration with Maxon Cinema 4D. If I had DR with C4D's incredibly deep UI (plus Xpresso functionality), I could conquer the Milky Way.
