Transcription Export with Timecode

PostMon Apr 17, 2023 10:36 am

Integrating transcription into Resolve is brilliant. I have been using Storykit AI for a while which does an excellent job, but having it built in is perfect. So kudos and thanks to BM for implementing this.

However, the export to text option is very basic at the moment.
As a minimum I would like to have the option to export with Timecode (either Master TC or Source TC) so that I can send a text file to an edit producer etc. and they can create a paper edit with Timecodes.
With so much remote editing this is a very common workflow for many documentary programmes.

Ultimately a standalone version of the Transcribe window with a viewer that could run off a QT file would be awesome for edit producers working remotely.

Also speaker detection for a future version.

Agreed. Storykit AI would also do a pretty good job of translating to English using the WhisperAI.

Yes, we need to have the timecode along with the transcription. I use this feature all the time with Premiere. I take a show I need to do a promo for if I don't have a script from the production company, I then make a transcript and use that to write scripts, but we need the timecode. I did create a caption track and export that as an SRT and then change the file from srt to txt and that works, but it breaks it into whatever size you have the amount of characters set as not tc by the speaker or sentences..

Yes, export transcript with timecodes for speaker changes and paragraphs.

Adding my 'yes please' to this feature request.

Definite need for a timecode option in some manner to the audio transcription. Audio transcribe is excellent, but need timecode for client sharing / clip referencing etc.

18.6 Seriously, they had timecode tool bar in the edit page, but there is still no time code when you export your text file from transcript... :( :( :( :( :(

Following along here. I definitely need this feature added to have timecode present in the transcription. It's only marginally useful without it. I'd also like to see the option to have separation of voices in the transcription as in Adobe Premiere. It's not always accurate, but it helps.

+1 Yes, it really needs timecode added! Without timecode, these transcriptions are less useful when providing them to anyone I'm working with outside of Resolve (specifically to find the original quote and verify the accuracy of the transcription, which is pretty good but never perfect, as you'd expect). Apart from that, AI transcription and auto-subtitling has been an amazing upgrade to my daily workflow, and I'm very grateful for this tool.

I think that's a great idea, and very necessary.

My workaround at the moment is to search the transcript for words or phrases after my edit producer has pulled from the un timecoded trancripts. Not ideal but does work and is pretty quick.
I've also used Storykit AI which does enable TCed Transcripts and also integrates very well into Resolve now so is a very viable alternative with quite a few extra features.

The other thing that would help me as well is to have the transcription window dockable into the inspector window so I can tuck it neatly out of the way. At the moment I have to keep moving it around as it gets in the way! It also disappears behind the main window if I have it open on the left screen of my dual screen setup.

Having said all of that I don't know where I would be without it on my current project. Brilliant.

Likewise, I think this would be extremely helpful. Another feature would be adding names to each voice so that the transcript can be formatted as follows.

Speaker 1: Transcript from speaker 1

Speaker 2: Transcript from speaker 2

This would be especially helpful when cutting from interviews and it is unclear what is question, what is answer and which person is speaking if it is a multi-person interview.

Watching this thread closely as I too am in need of this feature.

I've looked at using a transcription service but they're too expensive. Also looking at Transcriber by FxFactory but haven't tested it out yet.

If anyone has any suggested workarounds in the meantime that would be much appreciated!!

Have they fixed this issue - ive downloaded the beta for Resolve 19, good addition to adding timecode to the transcript inside Davinci own window, but when you go to export, there's still no timecode on the text file - can't see anywhere to export with it as an option either, anyone else on 19 who knows a way?

still can't believe they did all these updates and left it out of the text export.
