"Helper" for vertical videos

PostFri Jun 02, 2023 8:38 pm

When we add a video on a vertical timeline, I would like to have an option on this timeline that would display the rest of the cropped frames of the videos at a lower opacity.

That would help so much for editing vertical videos with horizontal clips. Especially when elements needs to be moved.

It would be so much easier to key-frame animation too.

It could even be just a switch somewhere in the viewer to display the cropped parts of the videos (with an opacity slider too maybe)

actually not only for vertical video, a "mode" that can show the extra material on the GUI (at least when not in play?) can be beneficial even in normal horizontal videos.

+1 for me.

Premiere does this when elements are out of frame. A border is around them if I remember correctly. The Power Windows do this as well.

This can also be used on Horizontal videos.

+1 to the idea.

This was added to beta2 I think?

I would still like to have my suggestion. When we're on a vertical timeline, having a toggle to see the rest of the frame at a lower opacity.

But now we need the Smart Reframe to work with "full resolution" timelines too.

So we can center what we need to center, then change the timeline to vertical to have everything in frame.

This would benefit horizontal as well.
