Can't Copy Projects in 18.6

Just downloaded 18.6 to test out and the first thing I noticed is that you cannot copy existing cloud projects anymore.

I've set up a template project in our Cloud Library that all my editors copy and rename. It ensures a consistent environment with preset timelines and color management settings, bin structure and pre-imported media that's used often etc. But with 18.6 that seems to be broken, or purposefully removed.

There is no more "Paste" option in the context menu after copying a project, and it's greyed out in the Edit menu. Also the "Copy Project to" button no longer works.

It seems to work fine for local projects however.

Same problem here. We can't copy existing projects to the cloud.

I believe 18.6.2 (released yesterday) has fixed this.

Negative, at least for me. On 18.6.2.

I'm not able to copy a project from Cloud to Local Database... Need to go on the road and won't have network access. CMD+C/V used to work and doesn't. The right-click menu no longer has PASTE as an option. There IS an option to copy... just no way to paste it locally.

As a work around trying to export each project and reimport.

I still can not copy projects. I really need to have this feature available, when will it be fixed?

Copy to/from cloud and local is not working for me as well.
Using Resolve 18.6.2 build 2.

Cloud ver. "Resolve 18.1" -> and there is no option to upgrade the cloud to the higher version.

Ok, but the media files are missing when I open the project on remote computer…

But that’s a collaboration workflow problem I guess? If the media files are not shared via Dropbox or are not saved on the remote computer they would be missing anyway?

I see. Thanks. I'll figure out how to use my Dropbox storage. I thought that the BM Cloud "Private Storage" space would be able to receive those files, but apparently not.

we have that issue across all machines connected to cloud DB. no issues with local DB.
resolve 18.6.2.
Obvious workaround, is to open project and "save as"..
fingers crossed its fixed soon.

UPDATE: I did indeed do it wrong. A restart of my computer was necessary. I can now confirm that copy and paste projects from Local to Cloud library is fixed in 18.6.3

Hi guys.

I really desperately need an update on this issue.

We have two suites on 18.6.4 that cannot copy and paste our main project templates (how we start every new job).

We have another two suites running 18.5.0 purely because of this, but they no can no longer work collaboratively with the two running18.6.4, which is critical to our workflow.

The only workaround that I can get to work is to have a suite running 18.5 perform all of the copy and paste actions.

I would run 18.5 on all suites but we use plugins and other tools that require us to run the latest version.

Workarounds I have tried in 18.6.4 include:
- Copy and paste template project inside Blackmagic Cloud.
- Open template project and "Save As"
- Move template project from Cloud to local, and duplicate. Transfer duplicate back to cloud projects.
- Export template projects locally and re-import into cloud.
- Export template projects locally and re-import into Local Projects, copy and paste to cloud projects.

None of these work.

As you can imagine, this is a HUGE issue for our workflow. Please advise when this will be fixed.

Hey Ben, this is strange as you should be able to copy projects now in 18.6.4.

We run multiple suites on 18.6.4 and we also do template projects for each job and have had no issues with copying and pasting in cloud libraries. I'm curious what's going on with your configuration that's not allowing you to do so.

Could your template project perhaps be from an older version of Resolve? Maybe try creating a brand new test project in 18.6.4, then try to copy and paste that to rule out if it's something specific with your template project or not. It may mean re-creating your test project again in 18.6.4.

Is there maybe an issue with copying projects if there are users from 18.5 in the cloud library? Perhaps do a test when you know for sure there's only one user running 18.6.4 in the cloud library.

Hopefully you can get this figured out!

Did you try with a fresh new database?

We are also having project creation issues with cloud running 18.6.4 — when attempting to create new project we receive an error "Failed to create Blackmagic Cloud Project – Check your network connection and try again" — We are also unable to copy projects from local to cloud.

Can "copy" local, but not "paste" in cloud.
Importing an exported .drp file gives me this : "Failed to create Blackmagic Cloud Project
Check your Network connection and try again."

What can I say? I'm happy if copying from Local to Cloud now works for some folks since 18.6 but for me, I've been battling with it since January and have had countless back and forth emails with Blackmagic support team, providing error log after error log, yet no joys!

I used to copy and paste projects seamlessly between local and cloud, but it crashes each time I try it now. For the life of me, I cannot understand why this decline is happening but I will sure appreciate any help. I gave up trying for weeks now as the frustration was doing my head in.

Hey, I was just having this issue (not being able to cut and paste) and found this thread. While I was trying a few things I logged into the BM Cloud website and was prompted to upgrade out of the beta stage for BMD Cloud.

After I 'upgraded' my account I found that I was able to cut and paste from my local folder into the cloud tab.

Maybe try this?
