DaVinci Player Software

Please BMD, release a stripped down version of your software that only contains the Media Page and make it an industry standard.

I am seriously tired of having to explain color and gamma shifts by QuickTime Player etc. to all clients over and over again.

DaVinci Resolve is the only software I trust with playback and it also supports most codecs. I think, if you'd release such a software EVERYBODY, who uses Resolve for grading - which is, let's face it, EVERYBODY - would tell every client to use it. It would quite quickly become a reliable industry standard and help everybody.

Just some thoughts, caused by frustration over the current situation.

I think you'll have better luck telling clients to never use QuickTime. Not the player. Not the format. Not nothing, not ever.

In fact, tell them to sop using macs! That abortion of an OS needs to die already!


OK, maybe just the first part. "Use VLC" is always good advice.

The thing is, you will never make an entire industry stop using Apple.. Telling them to stop using one tool raises the question, what's the alternative. VLC sadly is not. That one has its own problems. No player I know is truly perfect and reliable, except.. well.. DaVinci Resolve.

But no one should have to download the full free software - needles to say the paid version - if they just need a player.
