Better node colours on Colour Page

PostSat Nov 04, 2023 11:02 am

I like to colour code and organise my projects as much as possible but I find the node colours on the colour page are so small and hard to see that they're practically useless to me. I'd love it if they were much more obvious. Something like this.

Along with that some more utility top node colours would be great. I'd like to be able to mute (different than disabling. Enabled/disabled state should be preserved ) all nodes of a colour.
For example. I have a fixed node structure and noise reduction always on node 2. If node 2 was Pink, I could mute all pink nodes, thereby temporarily disabling all node 2s. Once unmuted they all still maintain their previous enabled state.

Colours could be used to filter actions in many other ways ways too. Let's say you have all trim nodes set to yellow. On the deliver page you could mute yellow nodes on render.

You could maybe apply a grade from a still but preserve all nodes of a certain colour.

I fell like currently there's some big missed opportunities with node colours. I'm sure there's many more ways they could be used than I've thought of too.

I would not object to this.

Sounds like a reasonable idea to me.

If I could change one thing about our existing nodes: I wish the selected node would have a larger orange bezel around it, so it's more obvious. To me, the orange edge is too subtle as it is now.

+1 for better node colors

+1000000 for node filtering. be it by color, name or ID. having smart commands like 'disable all nodes that have this and that in common' is something I have been asking for for years.

Yes! A Bigger, Fatter Orange boarder would be great!

I guess what I'm asking for with added functionality to the colours is something similar to how Baselight categories work but just for colour page nodes. The way editorial is separated from Colour in resolve means they wouldn't have the problem baselight has of constantly needing to babysit input strip and editorial strip categories. One could build a set node structure with nodes already coloured/categorised, then those can be used throughout the app for different things.

Currently the colour page ofx or noise reduction filters are useless to me as my preset node structure has a disabled default noise reduction and ofx in it already.
For example I could set my noise reductions to pink and then build a smart filter that shows me all shots with enabled pink nodes.

Currently the noise reduction filter just shows me literally everything because I have this on every shot

This also means my custom filter can show me noise reduced shots that use default NR or Neat video or any other 3rd part noise reduction i might chose to use
