I recently switched over to DaVinci Resolve. While I think some features with handling proxy media is pretty fantastic, I think there is room for improvement as far as streamlining and automation goes.
Here is what I would like to see:
- An option to turn on automatic proxy media creation when importing or adding media. For those of us who need proxy media, we generally always need it, so why not do it as soon as we add media?
- Background proxy media generation. I understand that you can do this with Proxy Generator Lite, but I don't see the need to have to open separate software to do this; also, this requires me to always remember to keep the software up and running. It would be fantastic if proxy media just got generated on the fly in the background.
I understand the argument that generating proxy media would use up enough resources that you really could not edit while proxy media was being generated; I feel like there could be a happy medium where proxy media was not generated as quickly and didn't use up as many resources. That way you could begin to edit the media where proxy was already generated. This would allow you to start editing much sooner and not have to wait for all your proxy media to finish.
