I'm with you on this one, Marc!! It's a bloody sad day when watching down the timeline is considered a workaround!

me crazy, but I miss printing to tape for this exact reason! The assemble edit was a high-stakes final watch down to catch any mistakes that might've been missed. The clients would have their notes from the layback and I'd have mine and we'd work our way through both lists making insert edits for any last minute changes or fixes.
Now with file exports I try to replicate that process by doing a play down with client prior to exporting, but for some reason the stakes never feel quite as high!
The idea of exporting any kind of master without a final watch down is genuinely terrifying to me.
As far as a mechanism for catching this without watching down goes, maybe a better way of showing this would be a new event type in the Edit Index so you can quickly jump to any gaps in the timeline?
