Face Refinement: Output mattes for "Skin Grading" parameters

PostMon Aug 12, 2024 7:02 pm

I'm working on a project that requires a lot of fixing of poor on-set lighting decisions, and I'm using the Color Compressor a lot to even out the effects of spill from colored lighting on an interviewee's face.

This works great, however, the Color Compressor operation is adversely affecting the color of the subject's lips, so everything on his face looks a bit monochromatic.

I'd love to be able to isolate the "Lips" parameter of the Face Refinement tool and output it's matte for use in a downstream node, so I can exclude the lips within the Color Compressor node.

Obviously you can use the color grading controls within the FR Lips options, but I'd rather use the Layer Mixer to mix back the original color of the lips, rather than artificially swinging the color using the Lip parameter sliders.

Another alternative to this specific use-case would be to add Color Compressor-like features to the Face Refinement tool itself!
