I do a lot of weddings, and when I sync the camera audio with the external mic audio (usually the audio is around 1.5 hours long, while the camera clips are typically 5–10 seconds), the new synced clip includes both the original audio and the embedded external audio from the recorder, which is excellent!
However, with the embedded audio, I can't access audio before or after the duration of the video clip, even if the original embedded audio recording is an hour long and the clip is only 5–10 seconds. Sometimes I want to grab a voice line from seconds before I started recording the video clip, and I can't. What I have to do instead is place the full 1.5-hour audio from the recorder on the timeline, auto-align it with the 5-second clip, and then cut out the part I need.
The feature I’m requesting is that the synced embedded audio shouldn’t be limited by the duration of the video clip it’s synced to. That would be a huge time saver.
