Why add an Optional Magnetic Timeline Mode (Feature Request)

Hi Blackmagic Team,
First of all, thank you for everything you’ve built with DaVinci Resolve. It’s an incredible tool - and it just keeps getting better. I’ve been loving using it more and more in my workflow.
That said, there’s one feature that I (and a lot of others) really miss: a magnetic timeline, like in Final Cut Pro.
I know Resolve has its own editing style, and it works great, but the magnetic timeline is honestly the only reason some editors still stick to Final Cut. It just feels faster and more fluid for certain types of work - especially when you're editing lots of short-form content, YouTube videos, social content, etc. Things like auto-snapping, rippling the timeline when you move clips, and not having to worry about gaps or accidentally desyncing layers - it makes a huge difference when you're trying to move fast.
I’m not suggesting to replace the current system - just to have it as an optional toggle. That way people who love the traditional timeline can keep it, and those who prefer a more magnetic-style workflow can finally switch over to Resolve without friction.
Adding this one feature could seriously bring in a whole wave of creators who want to leave Final Cut but feel held back by the timeline style. It’s honestly one of the last big things keeping people from switching completely.
Thanks for listening - and thanks again for building such a powerful editor.
Best,
luke
