Add Safe Area Defaults and Shortcuts for Social Layouts
Posted: Thu Jun 12, 2025 4:47 pmHi! Not too long ago, the Safe Area guides in Resolve were redesigned to include new layouts for social media, as well as various broadcast and film aspect ratios. That’s a great step forward but there are still a few things that could be improved.
For example, every time Resolve restarts, any activated Safe Area guides are turned off. I frequently use the Title Safe, Action Safe, and Center guides, and having to manually re-enable them every time is a hassle. It would be great if Resolve could remember which guides were active when the project was last closed or even better, allow users to set default guides in the preferences.
Also, I noticed that Social Media Layouts can't be assigned to shortcuts. Adding that functionality would be another great improvement.
Just like the new keyframes panel introduced in Version 20, I hope Blackmagic continues refining these kinds of small (but important!) workflow features like guides and properly working rulers in Resolve.
