Drag & Drop Clip Order Bug – Essential Functionality Still B

Dear Blackmagic Team,

As a professional editor, I am genuinely frustrated by an issue that I consider fundamental to any editing software: when I select multiple clips (properly sorted and named) and drag them into the timeline, DaVinci Resolve consistently jumbles the order in which they appear.

This happens whether I pull them from the Media Pool or directly from the Media Storage. Even though the files are numerically sorted by name, Resolve seems to ignore the visible sort order and uses some internal logic I cannot rely on. This behavior forces me to manually re-sort my clips in the timeline – every single time.

I’m shocked that such a basic functionality — trusting that drag & drop preserves order — is still broken in such a powerful and professional-grade tool. Editors must be able to trust that what they see and select is what they get.

Please address this issue in an upcoming update. This is not a minor inconvenience — it’s a core workflow problem that seriously undermines the user experience for professionals.

Thank you
Lennart Selle

Appears to be a regression in version 20.

My observation was the clip you 'grab' will always be first in line. The rest follow your Sort.

For now, always 'grab' the first clip. (Or use shortcuts.)
