There are times when it would be desirable to lock the Playhead and constantly scroll the timeline.

Cut page can do it. How about adding this to Timeline View Option on the Edit page?

The lock would occur wherever the playhead is when the lock is engaged.

in 16b2, cut page, there is a convenient option [lock playhead/freeplayhead].

can you have it also in Edit?

I would also love this. I was looking for it today. I'm not a fan of the Cut page so it would be great to have this in Edit as well.

I wished it was possible to lock the playhead in the center of the timeline (while the clips passes underneath). I am wasting too much time with adjusting and zooming the view of the timline.

This option only appears in the Fairlight page at the moment. Would be a very usefull addition to the Edit page.

Need to lock play head in the middle on the EDIT page, please. Too much time is wasted looking for previous and next areas.

Yes please! +1 This would be very helpful. Hopefully in the next version we'll have a fixed playhead option on the Edit page.

What do you guys think about combining this idea with the new Detail Zoom option in 16.1.2. If you chose that Zoom level, the playhead automatically locks to center. Change the zoom level in anyway (Custom) and the playhead unlocks.

Thoughts?

i kind of want to be able to do it when I want regardless of the zoom level

I usually work in commercials, so the fixed playhead in the Edit page wasn't really something I ever longed for.

But right now, I'm conforming a 2.5 hour feature film. (imported from Avid), and I only now understand why so many people prefer a fixed, centered playhead for some things. Conforming a longform timeline to a reference movie (in Difference Mode) is one of the scenarios when a fixed playhead would be really useful.

+1 — I would absolutely love this. Even if it means a bit of a performance drop. I also appreciate what @Trevor wrote in regards to the ability to add an offset. This would be a major improvement.

+1. I tend to keep scrolling the timeline as it plays just to stop it bouncing around.

On a 90 min programme that's not fun.

If BMD has made this feature the basis in the cutpage, then it should not be too difficult to do the same in the editpage.

With that I also hope that Blackmagic would start a `UserVoices` page that is not just like this forum but instead a site where users could vote on things and `BMD` can comment, give us a status update the way Adobe has been doing for a few years now.
