Sequential Font Preview

PostFri Aug 16, 2019 1:02 pm

Preview of fonts on any given title, without having to actually select the fonts, one at a time -- the idea is to cycle through the font choices with a cursor key.

I think it is already possible... Try to select one font and then use the cursor keys up and down.

You can move with the cursor, but nothing updates. It means exiting, then re-entering the drop-down menu.

While we're at it, what about a favorites selection, so that fonts which would never be considered can be eliminated from the drop-down?

Affinity Photo has this feature. I have to say it is very helpful when making a decision.
My Biases:

ah I know what you mean now.. I've just tested... In the Edit page, it doesn't work... but if you go to the Fusion page, select the text and do the same it works. Change the font once, and then up and down arrows to change fonts and it updates...

Totally agree with you too with being able to have font favorites or edit the list of fonts.

A feature from DaVinci Resolve 12. Very easy and no need for fusion.

+1. Its odd how such a seemingly minor thing can be such an irritant. I guess it is because it blocks us at a point of creativity. Plus it's something most of us have come to expect.

+100 I posted a forum about this issue as well in 2019, with no accommodation. Would love and appreciate the ability to preview fonts on the edit page while scrolling through them without clicking the mouse.

Premiere and Final Cut both offer this option. It's time consuming af for us to have to physically click each and every font we editors consider to use... and is why some of us (me) are still using adobe software.

Come on Blackmagic! This should be an easy feature to add on the next update.

Yes, even that would be of great help.

Jim Simon wrote:Affinity Photo has this feature. I have to say it is very helpful when making a decision.

Indeed, Affinity Photo, Publisher and Designer have it, and Libre Office, etc.

kinvermark wrote:...it blocks us at a point of creativity. Plus it's something most of us have come to expect.

Agreed.

BTW I can't think of a program that lets you select fonts that doesn't have this feature.
