Just wanted to add my voice that this really needs to get done.

I see a lot of discussion and speculation here as to the ‘why’ it hasn’t, but I really don’t care one bit what the business suit mumbo jumbo reasons are. All I care about is that your product is not meeting my clients or my needs. So sort it out already!

Hi

Please can you support ProRes RAW. I love DaVinci Resolve Studio and have moved over to it exclusively from Premier Pro.

However as a business we use ProRes as standard and are now starting to use ProRes RAW for our higher end productions and Resolve not supporting ProRes RAW is making for a painful workflow.

Like previous posters I really do not care about the politics around why you do not, but with more and more cameras supporting ProRes RAW, by not supporting it you are only hurting yourself and your customer base.

Walter, you are aware about the Voukoder plugin for Resolve?

yes and on the same token, you are aware of "adobe" being able to read "ProresRaw"?

that is not a solution, just a workaround.

I prefer the Scratch workaround, but that's still also a workaround rather than a solution.

Just wanted to be helpful and point you to Voukoder in case you didn't already know about it. No reason to be snappy about this.

So - would you consider using the NeatVideo plugin also not a solution, just a workaround?
Or the Mainconcept export plugin for exporting AS-11 UK DPP and pro camera formats?

Where would you draw the line between a solution and a workaround?
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

There is one solution for compliant Prores 422HQ, from Resolve on Windows and that is old fashioned digital cut or playout to the Video Assist. I use one at home which doubles as a waveform monitor. However for international versions here, that require Prores (and UK AS-11, since the Mainconcept plugin is not production proven and requires manual input for parts markers, very inconvenient on big series) we use Avid. Neither a solution for many I warrant too, though...

Playout in realtime just to get desired format.... :D It's like going from London to Brighton through Manchester :)
Would rather export to other format (eg. Cineform, DNxHR) and convert with tool which supports ProRes- AME etc.
When you do many masters anything other than direct export is always waste of time and storage.

Had to edit 150x50min masters (add new bars/clocks+slates and few black gaps at 'correct' place for commercial needs) and deliver as ProRes. If I had to deal with extra conversion then that would annoy me for sure, so I did not use Resolve, but Premiere (with some automated 'editing' to save extra time). It was done in few days. Already thinking how to make it even faster next time.

Same applies to mentioned DPP export. Without proper integration (marker based segmentation etc.) it's fine with MC plugin, but only of single masters.

I haven't had a chance to read through ALL the posts in this thread, but just for anyone who's interested...

BRAW Toolbox now allows you to import BRAW into Final Cut Pro without transcoding. It's currently available as a free beta - however, I'm HOPING to release on the App Store on Monday.

You can learn more here: https://brawtoolbox.io

I've emailed ProRes@apple.com about ProRes RAW licensing many times over the years, and have never gotten a response. When Final Cut Pro's Workflow Extensions API first came out, it was a private API, and again, I emailed the Final Cut Pro team to get access to the API, and never got a response. I just had to wait until it eventually became a public API. Apple is very good at just being radio silent. Maybe one day ProRes RAW will just be added to AV Foundations, and will work across all macOS apps natively.

https://store2.assimilateinc.com/produc ... o-upgrade/

I have briefly tested it and it seems to work well. I import the DNGs as P3D60/linear, and then apply a CST with source as P3D60/linear as colour space/gamma, and destination wherever you need to go. I also disable white point adaptation and any tone mapping. I would rather do the white point adaptation as another node (chromatic adaptation) if that's required, but so far I have not needed to. With my limited testing, it matches log encoded camera originals (Sony FX6 tested so far).

Obviously, I would prefer native ProRes raw support though.

Easy solution, Use another nle. I love BMD cameras but they don't meet my needs so I mostly use Sony cams and apple iPhone.

For those wanting ProRes RAW in DR, you can already do it. I shied away from CDNG convertors and then gave it a go following Sidney Baker-Green's YT videos.

I bought the less expensive converter and found processing 10s of 1000s of CDNG files in folder, a non-issue. There is no difference at all in terms of media management.

You simply have to learn the non-color managed workflow. It's complex, but then you just power-grade the result and it becomes effortless.

HERE'S WHAT YOU GET

$4500 Canon XF605 (Apple ProRes) vs $1500 Z Cam ProRes RAW

The Z Cam footage blows Canon's out of the water. My jaw almost fell off. Whoever says the difference is negligible and not worth the effort clearly hasn't tried it :)
