Any chance of making it easier to move tracks up/down. Example of hold down Ctrl+ Click on track and move or give us an option to assign a Keyboards Shortcut.

Thanks

I am glad I searched for this topic first. Yes please. This is extremely frustrating. I have 38 audio channels and every time i create a new one I have to click the 'move track up' option until its in the right spot.

Please Please add this on the next update

Consider using the “Add Tracks” option in the Audio Track's contextual menu, allowing a user specified “Insert Position”.

you can, just not elegantly. let me elaborate.

upon a [right click] on a track. I get the option of [add track]. By default this goes in the top of the stack and then i have to move it down.

It should behave in this way:

the mouse is on the top gray: [add track] add it above all (below all for audio)
the mouse is on a track -- two choices: [add track above this] - [add track below this] -- and It will insert it right where we need it
the mouse is on a track, still can present the default: [add track] add it above all (below all for audio)

Yes! We need to be able to slide the tracks up or down using the mouse or keyboard commands. AND if we highlight more than one track, we should be able to move them together up or down as needed.

The current way of moving the track is very troublesome.

This is how I do it & it's really easy. I do agree that moving existing tracks needs work.

But even that can take up-to 6 clicks/actions. If for example you wanted to add a Video (only) track above track 3. An improved solution (as already suggested) would be to have additional options Add Track Above / Below.

Im curious what your referring to? you can right click and say move track up or down? Is there a situation you would need to move it more then one or 2? Also if using fairlight you can copy track attributes and paste in another tack if adding eq and effects there. its very helpful.

Why do simple things in complicated way? Drag and drop moving tracks is always useful. It was also one of my requests for timeline improvements in other thread. I even create a video to illustrate how many useful options are missed in Resolve timeline:

You mentioned what many people have always wanted. This intuitive editing feature can reduce many editing times.

I believe you can now click and drag to reorder tracks in the Track Index panel.

+1 on this. Also I would love a shortcut to be able to bump a selected clip up or down a track. This feature is available in Premiere and something I really miss.

Why do you say this? I don't see this in my attempts in 16.2 on Windows 10.

As per the Resolve 16.2 release notes:

• Drag and drop reordering of audio tracks in the track index.

Track Index is on the Fairlight Page. It would be nice to have this feature on the Edit Page with video tracks also available.

I'm not able to get this to work on the Fairlight page either. What is the precise method? I have tried left click hold and drag. Crtl drag. Neither work.

We need to be able to left click hold and drag video and audio tracks on the edit page.

Use the Tracks Index on the Fairlight page. Left click & drag. AUDIO TRACKS ONLY!

So thanks for making the video. I think I see the difference. You are on a Mac and I'm on Windows. I don't believe this feature is working in Windows as it doesn't on my system.

Certainly would need it on the edit page for both video and audio tracks at a minimum.

A good workaround and still not the best solution! A specific minor zone on the very left side of the track would be sufficient to move it up and down. Why all the fuzzle to go to the index :-(

as soon as I got many audio or video tracks I need to switch to other software, since davinci would cost me many hours with its missing functions for editing and organizing....

+1 Drag and drop of tracks by their side bar
+1 Selection and drag and drop of multiple tracks by typical shift-click for ranges, ctrl-click for individual tracks would also be awesome.

+1.

Yes there are other ways, but the quickest, most intuitive and least interruption to a workflow is just grabbing one or more tracks and dragging and dropping them where you want. Like almost any other application does.

Yes needed....
Like in DAW Flstudio, if you hold the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel the channels move up and down. Very useful.

Yes, if you have 30 audio tracks for layered SFX, music samples and MIDI recordings, it's very useful to drag and drop.

And very useful (necessary, I would say) to be able to select and drag *mulitple* tracks in one go.
