So you are saying that clicking on the Input box on a channel does not bring up the small dropdown with
No Input, Input, Bus, and Path Settings in it, and clicking on Input does not open the Patch Input/Output window?

It would be helpful if you included details of your system. You don't even tell us what OS you are using. ;)

Do you have free inputs on your audio interface available? Is it a duplex device you're connected to?

My input device is Focusrite Scarlett solo. I have no problems with this input when I use reaper daw to record my voice over.
I used this input many times with dr 17 - no problem.

When I start I get the correct message that DR uses ASIO4ALL v2.

Try ditching ASIO4All and use the proper Focusrite driver available on their website.

I deinstalled ASIO4ALL and installed the latest driver for focusrite solo. But all is the same: Output in DR ok, patch-window not showing up.
In my reaper-daw output and input is ok.
After trying to open the input-window DR crashes when I try to close DR.

Is the Scarlet Solo showing up in Preferences/System/Video and Audio I/O with the channels assigned? This is mine using the in built Realtek audio.

In Preferences/System/Video and Audio I/O Focusrite Solo is showing up as Input Device. I can choose Focusrite solo as output device. Bat whatever I do the patch window does not show up.

Can you post a screenshot of your Focusrite control panel main windows? Also make sure no other device (including Windows) has latched onto the Focusrite and sample rate in Resolve matchesd the device.

Focusrite recommends to use "ASIO" with "Focusrite USB ASIO".
This is possible to set in the Reaper-DAW (look at sc3.jpg) but not in DR (look at sc4.jpg).
After closing this window in Preferences DR crashes on closing.

Does changing the IO engine allow disabling the "automatic speaker configuration" preference?

Does that preference become unavailable again and greyed out switching back to ASIO?

I set this (sc5.jpg), saved and tried to close DR. DR crashes.
I started DR and sc6.jpg is showing.
I changed I/O Engine to ASIO and everything is greyed out.
Then I changed I/O Engine to "System Audio" (sc7,jpg). DR crashes again on closing.
I started DR an again sc6.jpg shows up.

I am having the same exact problem. I cannot get the dropdown panel for Patch Input/Output to show up.

I am using a MSI GS66 Stealth, i7-1075OH, RTX 2070, 16 GB ram, Windows 11

May 20, 2022

I contacted you previously with a problem displaying the Patch Input/Output panel in Fairlight. Today I intalled version 18 beta 3 and the problems still persists. i use a MSI GS66 Stealth with a HP 24f as my dual monitor. Today I found that if I use the monitor on my laptop as my main monitor, everything works. As soon as I put Davinci Resolve on my HP monitor, I can't see the Patch Input/Out panel as well as other dropdown panels.
I have been using my current hardware configuration for about 2 years with no problems until I installed Version 18.
I also use Insta360 Studio to do rough edits on my 360 videos. I have been having similar problems with this app. Those problems also started about the time I installed Version 18 Beta 1. The Insta 360 app works fine as long as I only use the monitor on my laptop. As soon as I put the app on the HP monitor and close the app, it will not reopen and I have to uninstall and reinstall in order to use it. All other apps I use, including Photoshop and Lightroom don't appear to have any problems.

May 21 2022

Yesterday I uninstalled Version 18 beta and reinstalled Version 17.4.5. Everything worked perfectly in 17. (This had no impact on my Insta360 Studio problem). I reinstalled 18 beta 3 and the problem came back.

Try running the following ASIO test on the Focusrite driver. It can sometimes help isolate any issues, but imo the way Resolve connects to ASIO doesn't seem very reliable to me compared to other DAWs I have, especially virtual ASIO.

I'm not sure why Resovle would be trying to connect using WASAPI when you've told it to use ASIO, but I've had the same problems where when Resolve starts up, it tries to hog onto all audio interfaces, even though you've selected it to use just ASIO of the one device and it seems to confuse itself (even connects to something you've never told it too, which is really weird)

Try disconnecting the focusrite, set Audio I/O to system, re-start Resolve, then when you get the projects screen connect the Focusrite, press [ctrl+,] and then select ASIO Focusrite.

Also check both boxes under 'Exlusive Mode' in Sound Settings for the Focusrite. Make sure Windows System isn't connecting to Focusrite, use the onboard audio instead for that.
