Regular Export Fails - M1 Mac

PostWed May 25, 2022 1:19 pm

Interested if anyone else is having this issue?

Editing a music video - Resolve 18 Beta3 - M1 Mac 16gb ram - OSX 12.3.1. Video files are running off a Samsung T5

Exporting either H264 or H265 stops in random places with a similar error each time.

"Render Job x failed as the current clip could not be processed. the Clip xxxxx.mov could not be decoded correctly. Please check if the clip is still available on the drive"

It's no particular clip that's the problem, as it will be a different clip each error.

Deleting the render cache *sometimes* fixes the problem, but then it will reappear with the next render pass even if I delete the cache.

Try to copy the data to your internal SSD and see whats happening then. If it works ok then you have a problem with the Samsung disk.

Same problem here, sometimes...
Try deactivating hardware decoding of h.264 in general settings helps me.

Andre.
Honestly, I hate editing.

Ah thank you! yes that's got it. I can't say I noticed any difference with hardware decoding disabled, so not sure what its doing anyway, many thanks for that tip!

To the previous poster, I did try copying & relinking the footage to the 2Tb internal drive on the Mac mini, but it made no difference.

In my limited understanding, I thought drive speed mainly affected timeline playback (& render speed) ?

I.e should I not be able to render off a drive, that is too slow to play back a 4k Multicam in real-time? I thought Resolve would just chew through the footage a frame at a time, even if it took twice as long?

Cheers

I tend to render into ProRes first and transcode to GOP footage separately.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
