Fusion composition missing after "render in place"

PostTue Jun 28, 2022 10:45 pm

Pretty much what's in the subject.

I had two fusion compositions which were starting to bog down my machine on 18 beta 4. Hoping to free up some cycles I opted for "render in place". While it *did* generate a rendered copy and replaced the comp in the timeline, that turned into a one way ticket. The original composition is now empty.

This happened with two compositions. :(

Alas, upgrading to 18 beta 5 didn't bring anything back from the dead.

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Did you right-click and choose Decompose To Original?

I think you need to read about how Render In Place works. User Guide pg 853.

After quite a bit of digging I figured out the issue. It was indeed user error. The challenge arose from timelines being multiple levels deep. After I got to the correct level of of clip I was (finally) able to "Decompose to Original". I can breathe a sigh of relief. Thanks, folks, for the assistance.
