Interlace file used in 16 fine not working in 17

I think I need help with finding a solution to this problem.

I have 1 interlaced file (upper field first) that I can't get to render properly inside of 17.

I have used this same file literally dozens of times in 16 leaving the interlace setting on "clip attributes" to "auto".

That setting fails in 17 and so I then tried specifically selecting "upper field" and bypassing the auto setting.

However, that is yielding the same results.

Any clues?

ps Since I am on the studio version of DR17, I will try the new "neural engine" deinterlace option checked to see if I get any different results.

Yes Shrivnas, this is a link to the raw video file that will not render properly in my 1080p 29.97 project. I am trying to render to the XDCAM 422 codec.

Thinking now that I should just encode the original file as progressive in another software and then replace into the DR timeline.

What is your issue and what format are you rendering to?

The file I sent to you is not a render. It is the original interlaced file that will not render properlyin DR17.

I realize that. I did a render with that file and saw no issues.

So again, what issue do you see in your render, and what format are you rendering to?

Something's fishy with that clip. It's Top field first in Mediainfo, but doing that gives a stuttering video. (youtube takes a while to load this one, dunno why)

Setting bottom field first gives a smooth one.

(Master settings: 59.94 fields, image scaling: neural engine. All other settings default in a new project)

Does it do that if you look at it in Resolve?

Played the sample in 59.94i and p timelines, exported to both interlace and progressive XDCAM MXF OP1A. No issues here in R17b1.

Hopefully, I will get enough time to upload a sample of the problem. It would require me swapping the clip back into the timeline and re-rendering. Something I don't have time to do right now.

What format is your source? Sorry - I didn't download the sample but I'm seeing the same sort of problems with HDV 1080i59.96 (MPEG-2) source files...

I'm sorry to inform you that, even after mimicking your setup above, my render from R17b2 is still correct - no jitter.

Can you share your .drp? (we already have the source)

I have exported a .drt file which is a new feature in DR17. Easier than a giant .drp file.

Go down to about 33 minutes into the timeline to see the problem clip with interlace problem.

Just to be clear. This same timeline and clip rendered fine in DR16.

I would like to add a suggestion that BlackMagic think about how to run a Beta program more efficiently with its user base. A lot of people including myself aren't thrilled with publicly sharing their work projects. If BM could provide a simple link that takes the user to a "drag and drop" private location where timeline, project, clips could be discreetly uploaded, I think you would have a lot more people actively participating.

Currently, all the work is on the users side to share the data. Make it easier for us if possible.

I also am having the same problem so I decided to add to this thread. I have a clip from a Panasonic camcorder that is TFF and it jitters on playback in Resolve & when I render to interlaced. Its correctly recognized as Upper Field in Clip Attributes and the project settings are 59.94 fields with Enable Interlacing. The clips also played back in Version 16 with no issues. I tried setting to Lower Field & same issue.
In a 29.97 Project with Interlaced disabled, I get a stutter on playback until I change the clip from Auto-TFF to lower field. Playback & render to progressive is fine after that. I'm running V17Beta2 on Windows10 with Nvidia GPU.
