Mouse Scroll Issue

PostWed Apr 17, 2024 2:47 am

I'm seeing the horizontal mouse scrolling of the timeline draaaaastically reduced in Studio 19b1 for Windows, to the point of being unusable.

1. Go into Detail Zoom
2. Scroll

Do you mean scrolling with the mouse wheel while holding down the command key?
Does not show here.

YES! I downloaded Resolve Studio 19 last night, and I am running into the exact same issue.

If I use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, it's fine with no problems. But if I go horizontally, then it's horrifically slow, and it's actually killing my finger to keep doing it

No, just the normal timeline scroll with the mouse wheel.

Fairlight scrolls normal. It's only Edit that's sloooooow.

For me, it's holding down CTRL and scrolling that's absurdly slow. ALT + scrolling is completely fine, just CTRL + scroll is messed up

Alt+Scroll is a zoom action.

The Ctrl modifier doesn't do anything different for me.

Steps to Reproduce.

1. Scroll the timeline on Edit.
2. Scroll the timeline on Fairlight.

BOY what a difference! :o

I'm in the Edit page with detailed zoom selected.
Then with the ctrl key pressed it scrolls just fine and no delays whatsoever.
Tested it with project with several tracks and it all scrolls fine and fast.

Alt + scroll is a zoom here too, CMD + scroll is moving the timeline at usual speeds in Edit too.
So, it seems to be an issue under windows (yes, my keyboard prefs are set to DR standard).

Thanks for testing, guys.

Could everyone testing try it without any modifiers? Just the mouse wheel.

Also, could folks test using only a single display?

Same issue for me. Scrolling timeline in edit page is incredibly slow. I'm scrolling by holding down the mouse wheel now. Fairlight is normal speed. Mac user.

Experiencing the same issue. Using a 4k screen as my main display, with a 1080p screen on my right displaying a full screen preview.

I notice the Deliver page also has the slow scroll. Seems only Fairlight works correctly.

@Jim: Just as a sanity check: how are you horizontally scrolling without using a keyboard modifier key? Seems like I need to use the CTRL key along with the mouse scroll wheel for the H scrolling? Or are you holding down the scroll wheel and moving the mouse horizontally for the H scroll?

When you say it's working on the Fairlight page, you've expanded the timeline zoom on the Fairlight page to be equivalent to the Detail Zoom mode on the Edit page?

Perhaps you could provide a screen recording of what you are seeing?

SOP for NLE's is to scroll horizontally without a modifier. Resolve violates that norm and requires user intervention to correct it. ;)

I did not know that this existed... so much more convenient! It's still scrolling slowly though, so it didn't fix that particular issue.

I'm not sure I see a drastic difference between 18 and 19, but 19 seems to be 3 to 4 times less sensitive. Is that about what you are seeing?

That sounds about right.

The difference between Edit and Fairlight scroll speeds is pretty massive.

That's correct. Disabling 2D scroll simply allows Resolve to work as expected for an NLE.

The slow scrolling on edit and Deliver is a new bug in 19.

Same issue here (Mac user) - I have a Logitec mouse MX Master 3 with the horizontal wheel, and it's super slow in Beta 19, in the Edit page. Works perfectly OK in the Fairlight page. I experience the same problem when I use the trackpad - it's also extremely slow in the Edit page, perfectly OK in the Fairlight page.

Everything worked well in previous version (18).
