BR TL cache being delete to right of edits most of the time

PostTue May 14, 2024 12:07 am

R 19 b1 & b2
OS 14.5 release

I have a long complex TL thats rendered. if I say, change a clip on the beginning of the TL, everything after that point to the right unrenders. has to all be rendered again even though the change was only to the area of the clip. wasn't generally a problem in V 18.6 & prior. This is new to R 19.

one thing a little different - I have one clip up in V22 overlaying entire TL ( think bug in the corner ) PNG file. So everything is under that overlay of entire TL and everything in it.

I can't replicate this issue. Have any other clips moved in their position on the timeline? If so that will be the reason.

Disable the bug. Try again.
My Biases:

You NEED training.

You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

disabling the top TL length overlay is not a solution or option. It has to be there, it guides placement of images because its a pixel map mask. I used a bug as an example of why some one would have a TL long top overlay because thats a common thing to do.. that said turning the topmost overlay off will force the entire tl to need rendering which isn't great.

no I did not in any way cause clips to the right of the edit to move position. changing one clip causes the render cache to be cleared.

this wasn't a problem in R17 or 18

Agreed. It's a test.

Do clips that you didn't edit have to be re-Cached when that top layer is off?

with the top layer off, things behaved normally as expected.

well not quite. simple sliding clips L / R in the TL right of the CTI causes render cache to be cleared.

OK.

I can't reproduce the second issue. If I move something in the timeline that's Cached, the Cache follows it.

I wonder if that second issue is the at the root of your primary issue.

Bug Remains in R19 b3 :(

Also FWIW, instead of leaving the top most PNG overlay simple in disabled mode, I deleted it completely. Also keep in mind this is a 20 Video track TL with visible clips in most tracks most of the time. Even still this was ok in R 18.x and prior. Screen shot of reference, its now pretty outdated in relation to what it looks like now - longer and more clips
