LUT-Node

PostFri Jun 02, 2023 5:34 pm

I've been playing around a bit with 18.5 (18.5B 25) and stumbled upon the LUT Node under "Add Node". What is its specific purpose, and what exactly are the differences compared to a traditional Corrector Node?

At first glance, it seems to me that it simply allows for a quicker access to the LUT selection list with one less mouse click.

I couldn't find anything on this in the PDF for the new version, and it seems like there isn't a manual available yet if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not seeing this in 18.5.B build 25. How are you getting there? I don't see it as a right-click function in the Node window or under the Color dropdown.

That one is on me - there was a shared node in the project that goes by the name "LUT-Node".

OK, a node NAMED "LUT-Node" can be done, but of course, not a Resolve feature.

What I usually do in a Fixed Node Structure is call the first node "Camera," and it's basically where I normalize the camera material, generally with a CST node. Everything that follows is in my working color space. You could use a LUT as well, and that's what we would sometimes do in the days before CST or color management.
