Hybrid Workflow : Editors on & off site using cloud project

PostFri Feb 07, 2025 4:46 pm

Hi everyone.

I have already used setups where I can ingest rushes on my cloud dock, for editors on site to use in da vinci, and other setups where only remote editors were involved. In the second case I used a cloud project thanks to our cloud dock 2 to synchronize medias and eveything worked fine.

So my problem is that I am trying to use a bit of both of these setups : some editors on site and some off site, or color graders off site, the on site editors could theoretically link the medias via the cloud dock 2 through a 10G switch without latency (or few), and the remote ones would sync them through the cloud with latency.

But after many tests and research, I think that I can only pick between a local project server for my editors to use, and they can access the medias through the cloud Dock in real time.

Or the cloud project where my on site editors would have to wait for the medias to be uploaded to their stations like the off site editors, even though they are connected to the cloud dock through a 10G switch.

This looks dense but if anyone already thought of a way to, please let me know.

Why can't your editors link directly to the media that's on the Cloud Dock 2? Doesn't it show up on their computers like a mounted volume?

It's not exactly the same as your scenario, but I've done a couple projects where I'm working with collaborators on a shared Blackmagic Cloud project library. We work on the same project but I'm linked to my media on my drives, and don't have to wait to upload/download from BM Cloud. My collaborators are the ones that have to wait for the media to download to their local storage. I don't have a cloud dock but I have a cloud store mini connected to a switch to my computer and it's syncing to the BM Cloud. I also have my own RAID connected to the BM Cloud and sharing the media files.

Is that what you're trying to achieve? (Forgive me if I'm not reading your scenario correctly)
