I'm just starting to use Blackmagic Cloud myself, but this is how I would approach it based on my understanding of how this works.
Create the project online with sharing enabled, select to NOT sync proxies or the media, then you both open the project on your respective computers and look at where the media is to be stored, then copy the media to the proper location as indicated by the project.
Once Resolve finds the media in the identical relative location on each computer it should work the same as if you had synced the media automatically, just keep the folder structure for the media the same between the systems.
Phase 3: Profit!
