Cloud-storage-less option for auto remote-syncing 2 NAS's?

PostFri May 30, 2025 11:19 pm

I'm trying to set up 2 NAS remote auto syncing system for offsite backups and archiving. The 1st one being 'on-site' so to speak where work computers are connected. The 2nd one being offsite acting as a mirror to the 1st one.

I would like to be able to set this up without having to use cloud storage services as an intermediary because at 100tb+ the yearly subscription costs are high enough to just buy network capable hardware for storage.

I've been looking at doing this with more standard tech solutions (TrueNas, Synology, ect...), however with these systems a lot of the cost comes from expansive general capability of a server and is less geared toward back up with camera and video levels of data.

Well I'm curious if this is possible with Blackmagic Cloud hardware, and what that system would look like?

For example could this be down with 2 Blackmagic Cloud Backup 8's? If I have a computer at each location with a Blackmagic Cloud Backup 8 attached could I have them auto sync in the way I described without having to purchase 100+ TBs of Blackmagic Cloud storage monthly?
