Proxy Generation and Upload Freezing

I’m working on a collaborative project using a DaVinci Resolve shared project with “sync proxies only” enabled. We are three participants working from different machines, each with specific roles:

Setup:

Computer A (Production Company):
• Responsible for ingesting 7TB of archival footage.
• Footage is stored on a Synology NAS, connected via 10GbE Ethernet.
• Proxies are being generated locally and synced through the shared project setup.

Computer B (Editor):
• Will ingest and edit the newly filmed footage (2-week shoot starting next week).
• Will use proxies of the archival footage and originals of the filmed material for editing.
• Will later send a drive with the filmed material to Computer A for final high-quality export.

Computer C (Showrunner):
• Does not ingest anything, but needs to access all footage and proxies for review and selection.

Issue:

The problem occurs now during the proxy generation process on Computer A.
• Although the archival footage is locally available via high-speed NAS (10GbE wired connection), the proxy generation process in DaVinci Resolve is extremely slow, unreliable, and frequently stalls or gets idle.
• It often requires manual restarts to continue generating proxies.
• No other major tasks are running on the NAS or Computer A that might explain such behavior.
• The system meets all hardware requirements, and the NAS is otherwise performing as expected for read/write operations.

Questions:
1. Is this a known issue with DaVinci Resolve when generating proxies from footage stored on a NAS?
2. Would moving the footage to a direct-attached drive (DAS) temporarily during proxy generation improve stability?
3. Are there best practices for generating large amounts of proxies in a shared project environment?
4. Is there a log or background process I can monitor to better understand why the proxy generation stalls?
