Unable to change button mapping - ATEM 8.9

PostMon Oct 10, 2022 6:43 pm

[UPDATE] It is a known problem for BMD support with no other solution. Maybe some future update. [/UPDATE]

After updating the old broadcast panel to the latest ATEM 8.9, we are unable to change the button mapping, when it is connected to the ATEM Production Studio 1ME 4k with the latest possible software. The "save btn" just dont work and the mapping is not saved. The button mapping remains the last setup before the update. There is no way to save the new mapping, so no way to make it default. And the BMD support remains quiet, just the autoresponse. Anyone has also the same trouble or it is just our device? Video here: https://avc.sh/atem-button-mapping When we downgrade the firmware, it works again.

This was bothering me too. For the 1 M/E Broadcast Panel, I was able to reset the button mapping. This was on a Windows 10 system.
  1. Remove current ATEM software (9.2.2 at the time)
  2. Install ATEM software 8.5.3
  3. Connect Broadcast Panel to computer via USB cable
  4. Load ATEM Setup, select Broadcast Panel, upgrade firmware (downgrades to 8.5.3)
  5. Cycle power to Broadcast Panel
  6. When I powered it back on, it connected to my 1 M/E Production Studio 4K as normal (didn't have to change firmware on that), and I was able to change the button mapping directly on the panel and save it
After all that, I removed 8.5.3, reinstalled 9.2.2, and so far everything is working. I haven't bothered upgrading the firmware on the Broadcast Panel since it's working with the older firmware and my switcher.

This may be worth a try for others.
