Using More than One SuperSource

PostTue Nov 21, 2023 8:53 pm

I have a live production event where we have a total of 6 online presenters. I am very familiar with big name switchers like Grass Valley and Ross and how to handle creating a 6-box view. What I would like to know is if I can achieve this look with the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation? Has anybody tried to create more than a 4-box view on their switchers? If so, what was your workaround?

Thanks!

Gotta spend a pretty penny for a Ross or Grass with six keyers. With the Atem you can do it using the super source and 2 DVE keys without having to cascade MEs.

Good Luck

The Constellation 4ME does have two Supersource along with four DVE so you could potentially have up to 12 Picture in Picture. I hope this helps.

I have worked in TV trucks and am currently the GameDay Technical Director at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. In the past we have had a Ross Vision and are currently setup with the Grass Valley Kayenne. Like I said, I know how I would do it with them.

I was figuring the SuperSource, but was curious if there was a limitation on the DVEs at the same time. I appreciate the answer!

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the response. I was curious as to whether you could have both SuperSource running at the same time on the screen. This answers that question, potentially. Thank you. I will have to try to get my hands on a Constellation 4ME and test it out before the event!

Yes. The ATEMs with two Supersource have a Cascade check box where both will appear in SS1. I hope this helps.

Not my video, but after seeing the Constellation 8k being able to do this, I bought it. The 4 M/E Constellation has this feature as well. Video example.
