Comparing BM published specs on camera gain

PostWed Apr 03, 2024 2:49 pm

Hi there. New user here. <tips hat>

I've just started working recently at a small Christian TV station with a bunch of BM gear: Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K (3), Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 (6-ish), Pocket Cinema 4K (2), and a couple of ATEMs (the largest being a HD8 ISO).

Today I was asked how the Micros would perform in a specific situation and I thought I could answer pretty quickly by looking at sensitivity specs, but when I pulled them all up, the Micros were the only one that actually stated sensitivity at 0 dB gain. Ursa and BMPCC gave ISO numbers.

So because I'm not a "real" camera guy (I'm a editor/audio dude) I ask: comparing the Micro to the BMPCC and the URSA, are they "close enough" sensitivity-wise? I don't know enough to compare apples to oranges yet.

Thanks.

BTW, this is a crosspost from the cinematography forum.

0db of gain is ISO 400 on the Micros, +6db=800, +12db=1600, etc.,

Probably better (definitely cleaner) to shoot the Ursa at 400 rather than push the Micro to 800.

Good Luck
