ATEM Streaming Bridge SRT Port

PostThu May 16, 2024 10:11 am

Is the ATEM Streaming Bridge designed to listen on port 1935 for SRT protocol streams? I can connect to a remote Web Presenter over RTMP with port forwarding to 1935, but as soon as I try SRT, nothing. It feels like a port issue and frankly I'm in the dark about port forwarding in general. Using the Autodetect button on the Streaming Bridge, it finds an open port. If I create a port forwarding rule on my router using that selected port as the external and 1935 as the internal, the Bridge reports "Visible worldwide." But only RTMP works for me.

RTMP uses TCP, SRT uses UDP. So set up a UDP port forward service on the receiving end router that feeds your ATEM Streaming Bridge. Suggest a port number between say 5000 and 6000 (don't use 1935).

If you've managed to successfully set up an RTMP link with the same kit, the above router config process is the same as with the Public IP and the ATEM Streaming Bridge local fixed IP addresses used for your RTMP link.

Public IP addresses can periodically change, so check that as part of the configuration process.

Thank you LouisBacker. It looks on more observation like something is coming over but it's not displaying as a picture, just black. The lights on the Streaming Bridge are Internet OK=solid, Stream OK=flashing rapidly. Could it be that my Bridge is not updated to handle SRT? Software says Version 9.2.

As added information. on this, I recall that I was able to stream both RTMP and SRT from the Web Presenter to the Streaming Bridge when they were both on the same network, in other words, both inside the same firewall. I used the "Internet" setup, not the local network setups. So, the unit could receive SRT but I was not getting that SRT to work when the Web Presenter was in another location, attached to another router with its own firewall.

When internet streaming from the Web Presenter to the receiving Streaming Bridge, you only need to open and forward the ports in the router at Streaming Bridge end only. Provided the Web Presenter can access the internet unimpeded, there's nothing to configure in the sending router.

I wish that there was a better interface for this that ATEM or MixEffect could make that allows a more GUI friendly or saved presets/drop down menus for potential SRT destinations.
