HDMI UHD 23.98hz genlock capture Issue

PostSat May 18, 2024 12:30 pm

Hi
I'm part of the support team of the Smode Tech Company that develop Smode Software

We are successfully using Blackmagic Decklink PCIe capture card since several years right now.

BTW our Japanese customers encounter an issue with your Blackmagic Design DeckLink Quad HDMI Recorder hardware when used to capture UHD 23.98hz genlock video signal

29.97hz and other frequency signal capture are ok.

As you can seen in your capture software, a pink line appears on top of the picture
The thickness of this line depend of the chosen color space:
YUV 10 bit has 12 pixels shift down
RGB 10 bit has 6 pixels shift down.

We are using Desktop Video 12.8 runtime and SDK
Video signal was sent by an Nvidia A6000 GPU with Driver 522.22 and genlock with QuadroSync firmware v2.21. Operating system was Window 11

Thanks in advance for your helps on this.

Hi again.

ERRATUM: I'm using ADA 6000 gpu (and not a A6000 GPU).

Here some updates concerning this issue:
Note that:
* This issue is the same with 8bits pixel format (so not related to 10bits but only genlock 23.98hz frequency)
* This issue occur also with BMD 8k pro SDI (we use AJA-H5-12G hdmi->Sdi converter)
* This issue also occur with last Desktop Video 12.9 runtime.

Thanks for you help concerning this urgent matter.

Hi again !

The bad news is
* Update source video signal Nvidia driver to 536.25 does not helps
* Downgrade source video signal QuadroSync2 to 2.02 for more stability does not help neither.

The good new is by switch to another Sync generator, the UHD23.98hz pink lines issue is solved.

My question is, does Blackmagic hardware have special sensitivities one sync generators signal that we must know?
And if yes, how can we predict this will works?

Thanks for your helps about this.

Here the current state of our tests:

UHD23.98 Not working Sync generator:
* Tektronix TG700
* Leader LT4670

UHD23.98 Working Genlock Generator:
* Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Sync Generator
* AJA GEN10
* Rosendahl Nanosyncs HD
* Leader LT4611

Best regards
