Webpresenter HD audio out

PostTue Jun 04, 2024 10:58 am

Hi,

I’m looking for a way to get program audio out from the webpresenter to a toslink digital line, I use that for a Clarity M audio level monitor. I have been using an delock HDMI adapter that has toslink out on it, but I recently switched from ATEM mini (where I had the adapter on my AUX2 out before that went into the webpresenter) to constellation 2me. Now with plenty more AUXes and the routing possibility I want to move the audio extraction closer to the “exit” of my system, i.e. preferable after the webpresenter in signal chain.
So was reading up a bit that the HDMI out from the WebP might have program audio/might not, I will test this approach. According to same post the SDI out definitely had audio out (why this would differ from HDMI was not clear), but using the SDI port would incur a micro converter SDI->HDMI, which I want to avoid. Then I thought about the webcam out, that must have audio on it. Do you know if there is an adapter allowing for USB-C to toslink that would work from that port?

Go with a mini-converter, then you can take the AES out of the converter straight into the Clarity M.

Don't waste your time - USB-C isn't a magic connector with 1000 types of signal on it waiting for the right adaptor to plug in to give you access to it. It's only got one signal and relies on both ends of the cable negotiating what data should be carried on that signal. The webcam signal only exists if a host device is connected and then asks for the web presenter to send out that feed, so you need a heck of a lot more processing than a simple adaptor would allow for (this is also why things like USB-C to HDMI cables don't work on the Atem Mini / Web Presenter to get an additional output).

Nice, thanks a bunch for your response. I tested the HDMI out from the WebPresenter and that works too. I will check the mini converter, thanks
