I just did a livestream wedding and had a major let down. The ATEM Mini Pro crashed THREE times.
Here is my configuration.
ATEM Mini Pro connected to Stream Bridge via ethernet
Stream Bridge connected to Magewell encoder via SDI.
Magewell connected to ethernet (set to stream to Castr).
Back SSD harddrive connect to ATEM via USB-C (this SSD ALWAYS works and is used in every stream, so I know this is not the issue, but adding just to you know the backup setup.)
I use the Magewell encoder instead of the built in ATEM encoder because I have more control over resolution and bandwidth. And I can use HVEC and SRT.
This is a common setup for me and have had no issues in the past.
This time though, when I started the stream all was going fine, but when the ceremony started I pressed record on the ATEM and all hell broke lose (see video here -
).
I had to shut down everything and restart to get it to work again. I then decided I would not touch the "record button" but the ATEM did the same thing two more times. I did manage to get most of the ceremony, but it cut out the first 5 minutes of the ceremony and barely made it to the end and cut out again. Both times without me doing anything.
I thought maybe something over heated, I thought maybe there was a power disruption, I thought maybe the encode froze, I thought maybe the ATEM cache was full, but none of this was the issue. I immediately tested after the ceremony, it was clear the ATEM was the issue. Again, watch video -
.
Anybody know what is going on??? I have a summer of livestreaming to do and now I can't trust the ATEM. This was a disaster. I need a solution. What could be the issue?
