Can ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K accept more than 2 channels

PostWed Aug 07, 2024 8:27 pm

I have an ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K and it says on the product page

"SDI Audio Inputs
16 Ch embedded audio on all SDI inputs."

But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to display or record these channels. I assume I am not understanding something.

I am attempting to record 4 lavs via a 'Blackmagic Audio to SDI convertor', each lav is plugged into one of the CH inputs via a 1/4 cable.

Inside the ATEM Control nothing shows up and messing with audio routing seems to accomplish nothing.

Is the ATEM 4k 2 M/E only take stereo inputs? Apologies if this is obvious and Im missing something crucial.

If you aren't seeing any audio at all (not even on ch1&2), it sounds like you probably have an issue somewhere in the chain before the Constellation. Have you tried testing with different audio sources? Are all the dip switches on the Audio to SDI set correctly (all off)? I assume you are at least seeing a picture from the source in question on the Constellation?

I would not expect to receive any audio directly from a lavalier plugged into the balanced line level inputs on the Audio to SDI-converter - you'd either need a preamp for each mic to bring it up to line level, or you'd need AES digital audio input.

may be a BMD microphone to madi converter directly to your atem should be a solution if wired lav But take care if your lav need other power supply than phantom.

The 2M/E Constellation 4K does not have a MADI input

Yes it works .. U embed 4 audio channels to SDI .. Send it to atem .. and setup audio routing as U want .. Constelation 4K 2ME have 12 SDI outputs .. U can selects 16 different audio channels to every output ..
I was programmed XML editor for it :

https://atem.zaregistrujsa.sk

Just load your XML atem setup and configure what do U want .. Its really nice ..

Ahh .. U sended mlavs directly into AUDIO to SDI converters ? It need 3-5V power .. And some preamp .. Audio to SDI need line level signals .. Use any audio console .. With Phantom power aand 48V->5V converters .. Why you not use any beltpacks ? do you like cables ? Beltpacks provide power for mLavs and receivers sending line level signals .. So U can directly add it to Audio to SDI ceonverter ..
